Porter BennettPresident & CEO
Prior to starting Ponderosa, Mr. Bennett was the CEO of BENTEK Energy, which he founded in 1985 and sold to Platts/McGraw-Hill in 2011. During his tenure at BENTEK, he led the evolution of the company from an energy industry consulting firm specializing in supply and demand analysis to today's leading provider of market information and analysis for the natural gas, NGL and oil industries. Mr. Bennett is a Vice President of Western Energy Alliance and Chairman of its Natural Gas Committee, an Observer with the Potential Gas Committee, participated on the Coordinating Subcommittee of the recent National Petroleum Council natural gas study and is a member of the International Gas Union Strategy Committee.
In his early career, Mr. Bennett worked on a variety of consulting projects specializing in energy market analysis. He holds a MS Degree in Mineral Economics from the Colorado School of Mines, a MA Degree in International Affairs from Columbia University and a BA Degree in History from Lewis & Clark College.
Kelly BennettManaging Partner
Kelly leads a number of Ponderosa's research efforts and market engagement. Prior to joining Ponderosa Advisors, Kelly was a Manager of Energy Analytics at BENTEK Energy, where he founded the company's global energy desk, creating industry-leading fundamental analysis for the European natural gas and power markets, as well as the global LNG market. He has been involved in numerous consulting projects focused on asset acquisition, management, and investment strategy.
The majority of Kelly's market engagement has focused on foreign companies, including some of Europe and Asia's largest utilities, numerous IOCs and NOCs, as well as the private equity and trading community. Kelly holds a BS degree in Diplomacy and World Affairs from Occidental College in California.
Bernadette JohnsonManaging Partner
As a Director of Research & Analytics at Ponderosa Advisors, Bernadette's responsibilities include consulting project management, maintenance and validation of third-party datasets, and fundamentals analysis for the Natural Gas, Power, and Crude markets.
With over 8 years' experience in the Energy industry, Bernadette has worked extensively on both the financial and physical sides. Prior to joining Ponderosa in early 2012, she was a Senior Research Analyst at Sasco Energy Partners, a hedge fund actively engaged in trading the gas, power, and crude futures markets. Prior to joining Sasco, she was a Consulting Project Manager and Senior Energy Analyst at BENTEK Energy, where she focused on natural gas and oil fundamentals. She holds a Master of Political Economy of Resources and a BS in Economics from Colorado School of Mines.
Colleen CoyleDirector, Water Services
Colleen Coyle leads Ponderosa’s market development for water products and analytics. Prior to joining Ponderosa, she served for thirteen years as a Senior Water Master with the Montana Water Court, presiding over cases and conducting hearings in Montana’s general statewide stream adjudication. She also coordinated the enforcement of water rights decrees, managing water distribution projects between the Montana Water Court, state District Courts, state agencies, water commissioners, and water users. Prior to joining the Montana Water Court, she practiced water, real estate, natural resource, and environmental law, with experience in civil litigation and legislative consulting.
She holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Montana, and a J.D. from the University of Montana School of Law.
Harry BrookbyDirector of Sales
Harry is responsible for planning and implementing sales, marketing and product development programs targeted toward prospective Energy and Water segment clients. Additionally, he is involved in lead generation, product positioning, packaging and pricing strategy, as well as client relationship management, transaction negotiation, and closing.
Before joining Ponderosa he was a top producing sales manager for McGraw-Hill Financial, and prior to that worked in the Corporate Treasury group at ConocoPhillips. Harry earned his BBA from Washington and Lee University, and his MBA from the University of Texas.
Darrell ProctorSenior Market Analyst
Darrell Proctor is a communications and energy industry professional with several years of experience in the business, technology and power supply and demand sectors, along with more than 30 years' experience in print and online media. As a Senior Market Analyst at Ponderosa he provides data analysis and commentary for clients, specializing in the supply, demand and financial aspects of energy commodities including natural gas, crude oil and NGLs.
He was previously a senior energy analyst, writer and editor for Bentek Energy, and before that he was business and technology editor for the Rocky Mountain News in Denver. He also was an award-winning sportswriter and editor for the St. Petersburg Times in Florida. Darrell has degrees in journalism and political science from Franklin College of Indiana.
Holly GrahamMarket Analyst
Holly Graham is an optimization specialist and has built out Ponderosa’s Crude Flow Model along with our Generation Dispatch Model. Her focus as a Market Analyst at Ponderosa is primarily crude transportation and optimization.
Prior to joining Ponderosa, Holly contracted with the United States Army, where she worked on the Base Realignments and Closure (BRAC) Act. Holly holds a Master of Science in Engineering and Technology Management from Colorado School of Mines and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from University of Redlands.
Nancy ZalutskyResearch Analyst
Nancy Zalutsky is a Research Analyst obtaining information about water rights in Western states for use in the development of Water Sage, a web-based mapping platform that integrates water rights data, land ownership and relative priority.
Nancy graduated cum laude from the University of Great Falls in 1993 with a BS in Paralegal Studies and has been a Certified Legal Assistant since 1995. She has more than 20 years’ experience in Montana water rights as a paralegal at the Doney Law Firm from 1991 until 2005 and as a consultant at Water Right Solutions Inc. from 2005-2014.
Samantha FoxBusiness Intelligence Developer
Samantha Fox is a business intelligence developer who joined the Ponderosa team in 2013 with a background in energy markets. She develops the databases for Water Sage, combining primary analysis of each state’s water right data with research into their legal and regulatory administration.
Before joining Ponderosa, Samantha was an analyst and business intelligence developer at Bentek Energy, where she led projects on natural gas fundamentals and oil products pricing. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Physics from the Colorado School of Mines.
Sarp OzkanSenior Energy Analyst
Sarp is an oil & gas market analyst providing to the modeling and research efforts of the Ponderosa Energy team. He has research and modeling experience in the upstream and downstream markets and has presented his work at various academic conferences around the world, including presentations for the SPE and the IAEE. He has also been published in the SPE Economics & Management Journal, featuring his work on the long-term economic viability of production from unconventional liquids-rich reservoirs. His recent work involves crude quality related dynamics and refinery modeling. While having a focus on data-driven modeling, his ability to incorporate the effects of technological and market advances into analysis provides clients a thorough picture of the present and the future in their area of interest within the oil & gas industry.
Sarp holds an MS Degree in Mineral & Energy Economics from the Colorado School of Mines, MS Degree in Petroleum Economics & Management from the Institut Francais du Petrole (IFP School), and a BA Degree in Economics from The University of Chicago.
